FLAT RACING

Flat races are race that do not include any obstacles. It is a test of speed, stamina, and the skill of the jockey in choosing the right tactics; knowing where to position their horse in the race, when to restrain their horse or to ask it to make an effort. Flat races are run on grass, but some are run on synthetic or all weather surfaces.

ENDURANCE RACING

Endurance racing is an equestrian sport that controls long-distance races, it is a sport whereby the horse and rider take on a long-distance ride at a set speed, often in the grips of a highly competitive environment. A timed test consisting of a distance of 50 to 100 miles in one day.

JUMP RACING

Jump races are races that include obstacles for the horse and jockey to jump. These can be small ones known as hurdles or large ones known as fences. Jump races are a test of stamina and jumping ability and so the horses that take part tend to be older than Flat horses. They look bigger and more developed than the finer, more elegant Flat horses.

HARNESS RACING

Harness racing is a form of horse racing in which the horses race at a specific gait. It is a sport in which horses filled with two-wheeled carriages called a sulky, or spider, are held. It is different from flatland racing in that it uses breaking news when driving and that the jockey does not ride on the back of a horse.
